Revolutionizing Industries with Graphene

At NanoXplore, we apply the power of carbon technology and graphene to redefine industrial possibilities.

Graphene: A Nobel Prize Innovation

Graphene, discovered at the University of Manchester in 2004, earned a Nobel Prize in Physics (2010) for its groundbreaking properties. The uniqueness of this material is due to its atomic structure, which is a single atomic layer of carbon atoms arranged in a hexagonal lattice.

Graphene: Advantages of a Wonder Material

  • Unparalleled strength: Unique hexagonal structure provides exceptional in-plane strength.
  • Exceptional conductivity: Superior electrical and thermal performance.
  • Lightweight: Density ~2 g/cm³, which is lighter than glass & mineral fillers.
  • Versatility: Enhances mechanical, thermal, electrical and chemical properties across a wide range of materials.

Our Proprietary Innovation:

GrapheneBlack™

Graphene is hailed as a “wonder material”, yet scaling its production and effectively integrating it into products remains challenging. NanoXplore addressed these hurdles with its proprietary GrapheneBlack™. Produced through our patented processes, natural flake graphite is transformed into high-quality graphene powder, typically consisting of 6-10 atomic layers. Our manufacturing ensures scalable production, cost-efficiency, and consistent quality.

GrapheneBlack™ Key Advantages

Boosts mechanical strength

Enhances structural integrity of various materials, making them stronger and more durable without increasing weight.

Adds thermal and electrical conductivity

Creates unique electromagnetic properties which make it ideal for electronics, energy storage, conductive thermoplastics for static discharge and advanced coatings.

Enhances barrier properties

Protects materials against UV, chemical degradation, oxygen and moisture. Ideal for a wide range of applications from automotive to packaging.

Promotes sustainability

Preserves polymer properties during recycling, reducing aging and degradation, while also enabling higher use of recycled resins. Allows for lightweighting and downgauging which minimizes use of resins. Sourced from natural graphite and produced using Quebec’s clean hydroelectric energy, providing an eco-friendly alternative to carbon black.

Aids processing

Patented Large-Scale Manufacturing Processes

We’ve engineered several patented exfoliation processes that transform natural graphite into high-quality graphene at scale. Our modular and automated production facility has a capacity up to 4,000 metric tons annually – making it the largest graphene production site in the world (IDTechEx)*.

Certifications & Compliance

We are fully certified in Canada under ECCC/CEPA1 and have listed our graphene on the Domestic Substance List (DSL). In the US, we are registered under EPA/TSCA2, and we are the lead registrant in Europe under both EU-REACH3 and UK-REACH4, ensuring regulatory compliance and safe use across industries.

Graphene Integration into Products

Beyond graphene powder production, we transfer the unique properties of graphene as an additive into plastics and composites products through our Carbon Technology and Solutions Business Group.
